Helping Individuals and Couples Thrive in a Dynamic and Diverse World Located near the U.S. Embassy, I offer professional, compassionate therapy services for both English and Spanish-speaking clients in Mexico City. Whether you’re navigating personal challenges, relationship issues, or adjusting to life in a new environment, I am here to help. About Me I’m Dr. Jason Platt, a bilingual therapist with over 22 years of experience in individual and couples therapy. I’ve been based in Mexico City since 2005, providing culturally attuned therapy to a diverse range of clients, including expats, locals, and international couples. I hold a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Syracuse University, where I also completed a specialized internship in human sexuality at the prestigious SUNY clinic. Additionally, I served as the Program Director of the International Counseling Psychology Masters program at Alliant International University’s Mexico City campus for 12 years, helping train the next generation of therapists. I have also published research on topics such as bi-national couples, fatherhood, and family conflicts over the political divide, reflecting my deep interest in how relationships and family dynamics are shaped by cultural, social, and political factors. My Approach: Systems Theory & Liberation Psychology I believe that effective therapy looks beyond the individual. My approach is rooted in systems theory, which explores how personal struggles are often connected to the relationships and environments we live in. Whether it’s family dynamics, social circles, or professional networks, the systems around us can play a key role in maintaining or resolving issues. I also draw from Liberation Psychology, which takes into account the societal and community influences on mental health. This approach is particularly important in the diverse, multicultural context of Mexico City, where issues like identity, belonging, and adaptation are common themes. Personalized Therapy Tailored to You I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. In our sessions, I’ll use a variety of techniques, customizing my approach to meet your unique needs. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or cultural adjustment, I am committed to finding what works best for you. Professional Ethics and Standards As a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) (Member #74790), I adhere to the highest ethical standards in my practice, ensuring that your confidentiality and well-being are always my top priority. |
