You are invited to experience a culturally empowering four-day Women’s Retreat with the legendary Patricia Arredondo, EdD in historic Mexico City, Mexico. Immerse yourself in the city´s art, culture and flavors while exploring how women have thrived and transcended the barriers they face within organizations and society. Access ways to recognize your own power and empower other women. Gain a mindset for leadership and ideas on how to become changemakers within organizations, academic settings or business communities.
Description: The purpose of this workshop is to examine historic literature and contemporary research about the strengths and contributions of Latinas to families, communities, and to women’s psychological empowerment. Four historic and ground-breaking figures will be highlighted—Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Antonieta Rivas Mercado, Julia de Burgos and Frida Kahlo. Themes of their hidden dimensions of personal worth and leadership that have informed Latina Mujeristsa (feminist) perspectives and values will be explored. Contemporary U.S.-based research about women’s persistence and expressions of empowerment in different contexts and roles will also be discussed. Participants will prepare a roadmap that draws upon the historic and contemporary themes to inform their personal and professional careers as well as their work with Latinas. This is a residential program to be held in Mexico City over a four-day period and is limited to 16 attendees. This practical retreat will include workshops focused on:

Insight & MentorshipDr. Patricia Arredondo´s legacy is extensive. She is a prolific author and has published more than a hundred journal articles and authored and co-authored eight books. Her contributions have had a significant influence on the field of psychology, multiculturalism and social justice efforts across many disciplines. The American Counseling Association named her a Living Legend and she is Fellow of ACA and three divisions of the American Psychological Association (APA). Her undeniable success in both higher education administration and the business sector gives her unique insight and ability to provide mentorship to future leaders. Beyond this she is simply a wonderful human whose life has been dedicated to unlocking and opening doors for others.
Registration and additional information:
The program orientation will be on Wednesday at 4:00pm (March 26th or July 2nd). It is important that you arrive in time for the welcome dinner, orientation and Cacao Ceremony). Departures can be anytime the following Sunday. The fee for the retreat is $1550 (double occupancy) or $1750 (private room) and includes accommodations for four nights*, transportation to and from the Mexico City Airport (MEX), entrance fees for all program activities, the Hidden Dimensions Retreats, all breakfasts, three program meals and a farewell celebration dinner. The fee does not include Airfare or accommodations outside the program dates. If you would like to extend your stay Dr. Platt can provide recommendations. A $500 non-refundable deposit will be required February 1st for the March program and May 1st for the July program.
