Welcome! This immersive, five-day residential program in Mexico City explores historic and contemporary perspectives on the strengths and contributions of Latinas to their families, communities, and women’s psychological empowerment. Drawing on the concepts of Mujerista leadership, empowerment, and intersecting identities, the retreat highlights four groundbreaking icons --Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Antonieta Rivas Mercado, Julia de Burgos, and Frida Kahlo—to illustrate how their leadership and contributions on behalf of others have shaped Latina feminist values. Participants’ women ancestors will be recognized and their legacies of leadership will be shared. Participants will examine their intersecting identities and create a personal roadmap for their Mujerista-centered careers.
Imagine engaging in deep conversation with Latina icons across history as you explore your own challenges, hopes, and purpose through their words, art, and lives. Guided by Dr. Patricia Arredondo, a pioneering scholar and practitioner in women’s leadership, this reflective workshop invites you to draw wisdom from their legacies and apply it to your personal and professional journey. Themes of their hidden dimensions of personal worth and leadership that have informed Latina Mujerista (feminist) perspectives and values will be explored. Contemporary Mexican -based research about feminist movements, and women’s expressions of empowerment in different contexts and roles will also be discussed. Participants will prepare a roadmap that draws upon the historic and contemporary themes to inform their personal and professional careers as well as their work with Latinas. Insight & MentorshipDr. Patricia Arredondo´s legacy is extensive. She is a prolific author and has published more than a hundred journal articles and authored and co-authored eight books. Her contributions have had a significant influence on the field of psychology, multiculturalism and social justice efforts across many disciplines. The American Counseling Association named her a Living Legend and she is Fellow of ACA and three divisions of the American Psychological Association (APA). Her undeniable success in both higher education administration and the business sector gives her unique insight and ability to provide mentorship to future leaders. Beyond this she is simply a wonderful human whose life has been dedicated to unlocking and opening doors for others.
Registration and additional information:
Plan to arrive on Tuesday, January 19th, 2027 in time for the welcome dinner at 7:30pm. The program orientation will be on Wednesday morning. Departures can be scheduled anytime the following Sunday. The fee for the retreat is $1750 (double occupancy) or $1950 (private room) and includes accommodations for five nights*, pickup and transportation from the Mexico City Airport (MEX) to the hotel, entrance fees for all program activities, the Hidden Dimensions Retreats, all breakfasts, three program meals and a farewell celebration dinner. The fee does not include Airfare or accommodations outside the program dates. If you would like to stay in the hotel additional days, please contact Dr. Jason Platt. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required by November 1st, 2026 in order to hold your spot. Full payment is due by December, 1st, 2027. Payments can be made using the link below or through Zelle.
