Calling all writers!
​​Come join our supportive writing community in sunny Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This Writer's Retreat will take place March 16th - March 20th, 2019. Our typical participants are psychology and family therapy students, therapists, mental health educators and clinical supervisors.  Whether you are working on a journal article, your dissertation, a proposal for a book, starting a blog or other creative writing project, a change of scenery and personalized support can make all the difference.

The four-day trip will include:

• • Welcome dinner in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
• • Group sessions 
• • Individual consultation sessions with Dr. Davis and Dr. Platt 
• • Daily group support and accountability meetings as desired
• • Farewell celebration dinner
• • Continued support after the retreat via a private Facebook group.

For those wishing to write a book, you'll learn how to:

• • Identify a topic and structure an outline
• • Start writing, including dealing with writer's block
• • Write a publishable book, even if you're not a great writer
• • Approach publishers
• • Self-publish

Everyone will receive:

• • Large blocks of quiet, uninterrupted writing time
• • Personal and group coaching as desired
• • Continual accountability and support after the retreat via a private Facebook group

Your Hosts
Between us we have published six widely-read books and dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles, including several which have won the "Best Article of the Year" award from the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, the MFT field's top academic journal. We have taken hundreds of clinicians on highly popular immersion trips in places such as Mexico, Belize, India, Cuba, El Salvador, Italy, Cambodia and others. Each of us have over a decade of experience as faculty in the Couple and Family Therapy (Dr. Davis) and International Counseling Psychology (Dr. Platt) programs at Alliant International University where we have earned reputations as award-winning scholars, authors and educators. Dr. Platt is the Director of the International Center for Therapy and Dialogue in Mexico City, Mexico and Dr. Davis founded The Davis Group: Counseling and Wellness Services based in California. 

Registration and other information:

• Participants will fly into Puerto Vallarta on Saturday, March 16th and depart from Puerto Vallarta on Wednesday, March 20th.
• The fee for the retreat is $795 and will include a welcome dinner, group and individual sessions aimed at supporting your writing goals, and a farewell celebration dinner.
• Airfare, lodging and most meals will not be covered to allow for individual flexibility, though hotel and restaurant recommendations will be provided.
• A $100 non-refundable deposit will be required to reserve your spot by February 1st, 2019.
• Groups of two or more will receive a $50 discount.
